I am Yasmin El Shennawy and I am an avid piano teacher, as well as a mother to 2 lovely daughters.
My music journey started at the young age of 7 when my parents discovered that I could play all the school songs on my little keyboard, by ear. My talent and passion encouraged them to register me for piano classes and I received captivating music education from several teachers of different backgrounds. Each teaching method expanded my knowledge in a particular way.
I achieved my Grade 8 piano exam certificate with Merit from Trinity College of Music, UK, in 2004.
I started teaching piano in the year 2000 at KMH Music Institute in Alexandria, Egypt starting with only 3 students, continuing until I relocated to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2013 and joined the music instrumental teaching staff at The British International School of Jeddah.
During my 23 years of inspiring teaching, I taught a diverse pool of 600+ students of different ages, as young as 4 and up to 70 years old, and of different nationalities from over 30 countries. My extensive experience with ABRSM and Trinity College examinations makes me a proud teacher of high-achieving students who excel in their piano exams, achieving high scores across all levels.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Market Research and Consumer Behavior, however my passion for teaching music, always brings me back to my little piano world.
Even with this teaching voyage, I still yearn to learn more and discover new ways of enhancing my teaching style and helping my students have a more joyful and unique musical journey. I achieved the Cert PTC, UK (Piano Teacher’s Certificate) in September 2023

The key to better learning and bringing up more confident and independent pianists is starting by teaching the basics, such as music theory, notation, and rhythm in a fun and simplified way. As students advance, I start integrating scales and chords, aurals and improvisation in lessons.
I always encourage my students to practice regularly because this is vital to their progression. I truly believe that practice marks the line between a professional and an amateur pianist. I set clear goals for my students, I guide them on methods to help with their practicing sessions and provide them with fun practice logs to track their practice.
Learning the piano can be a long and challenging process, so it is important to keep the students engaged and interested. I use fun games, technology-based activities, challenges, and rewards to keep them motivated and excited to continue learning.
I believe that everyone is different and everyone learns at their own pace. I take time to carefully understand each student, their character, their preferences, their strengths and weaknesses and then tailor my teaching accordingly.
I ensure to continuously provide regular feedback on the student's progress and make sure to always involve the parents. This helps them understand where they need to improve and where they're excelling. Over the years, I learned that positive reinforcement works wonders to encourage students and keep them motivated.
I like to stay up to date with new teaching techniques and materials, as well as try new music genres, and mix up my teaching methods to keep things fresh and avoid monotony.
